Don S. Davis

Biography

Don S. Davis (August 4, 1942, in Aurora, Missouri; † June 29, 2008, in Gibsons, Canada) was an American actor, artist, and former military officer. He began his career as a theater professor before transitioning to acting. He became known for his role as General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1 (1997–2007) and Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks (1990–1991). Davis appeared in numerous films, including A League of Their Own (1992), The Fan (1996), The 6th Day (2000), and Far Cry (2008). He often portrayed authority figures and military characters, reinforced by his real-life experience as a U.S. Army captain. In addition to acting, he was a talented painter and sculptor.
